About The Role This hybrid role combines Data Science and Software Engineering. If you enjoy driving the development and deployment of data science products (models, recommenders, databases) in collaboration with Product and Clinical teams, this position is for you. We are looking for versatile data scientists who continuously seek product innovation and can deploy solutions with strong engineering skills to enhance our automated Atropos Health workbench that generates rapid and reliable RWE.
Responsibilities - Collaborate with Product, Clinical, and Engineering teams to understand requirements and deliver product solutions that balance technical rigor with practical application. - Test, productionalize, and maintain data science products adhering to software engineering best practices (code management, documentation). - Deconstruct complex projects into workable solutions; identify appropriate data and methods. - Manage projects, addressing dependencies and gaps with stakeholders; solicit user feedback to propose product innovations. - Stay current with research, conduct literature and empirical studies, and identify appropriate solutions while avoiding less promising ones. - Excellent writing skills are required, as you may contribute to our technical blogs.
Minimum Qualifications - Degree in Clinical Informatics, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Engineering, Epidemiology, Statistics, or a quantitative discipline. - Experience manipulating large datasets and developing/deploying models onto production infrastructure. - Fluency with Python, R, SQL, git, Linux, and cloud infrastructure (AWS and Docker); published Python or R package and familiarity with virtual environments. - Sufficient knowledge of healthcare to understand product needs and demonstrate excellent problem-solving, project management, and team collaboration skills. - Flexible thinking: ability to re-frame problems to find practical solutions. - Additional skills in epidemiology, LLMs, RWE, causal inference, recommenders, NLP, data engineering, MLOps, or DevOps are a plus; knowledge of medical coding terminology (e.g., ICD, CPT, LOINC, RxNORM) is beneficial. - Master's or PhD training in a quantitative field is a plus.
Reporting The Staff Data Scientist reports directly to the President, Neil Sanghavi.
Location We are a remote-first company! You must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. We cannot support visa sponsorship at this time.

Compensation Range: $140K - $175K
