Position Overview

Our technology team is searching for a Senior Data Engineer to assist in shaping our data infrastructure and developing a robust, scalable data platform. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with data architects on high-performance data solutions, focusing on building and supporting data pipelines, modeling, and storage solutions across cloud environments. This role includes opportunities to drive efficiencies in data management and access while mentoring junior engineers.

Your Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with data architects to implement effective data platform solutions, focusing on scalability and performance.
  • Build, configure, and optimize data pipelines using cloud-native services (primarily Azure, with integration into AWS and Google BigQuery).
  • Support data migration from legacy systems, ensuring data quality and compliance with governance standards.
  • Conduct data modeling to support analytical needs utilizing data lakes, warehouses, and marts.
  • Monitor and enhance data system performance through regular testing and troubleshooting.
  • Create and maintain a robust data governance model to ensure data accuracy and compliance with regulations (e.g., 21 CFR Part 11).
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to align data systems with business needs.
  • Lead data security efforts, implementing best practices for data access and privacy controls.
  • Provide mentorship to junior data engineers and support training initiatives for the data team.
  • Support continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) practices in data engineering workflows.

What You Bring

  • 4+ years of experience in data engineering, particularly with cloud data platforms (Azure, AWS, Google BigQuery).
  • Proven experience building and optimizing data solutions in Azure Data Factory, Data Lake, Azure SQL Databases, and Power BI.
  • Proficiency in various data formats (JSON, Parquet, Avro) and advanced SQL skills.
  • Familiarity with data transformation tools (ETL/ELT), version control (Git), and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledge of data governance and compliance with regulatory frameworks (e.g., HIPAA, 21 CFR Part 11).
  • Strong problem-solving skills, troubleshooting experience, and performance tuning for large-scale data systems.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, effective with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Certifications/Licenses, Education, and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; advanced degrees or relevant certifications are a plus.
  • Preferred certifications in Azure or other cloud data platforms.
  • Experience in an Agile/Scrum environment is a plus.
