Velocity Global is looking for a Senior Staff Data Scientist to join our growing data science team. The Senior Staff Data Scientist will provide technical leadership for the data science team and partner with other departments to create Generative AI applications. We are seeking someone with a broad range of experience performing data-driven work, particularly in Data Science and Data Engineering. By leading this team, you will improve our systems, our business, and, most importantly, our customers using Generative AI. You will report to the Manager, Software Engineering. This is a hybrid role based in Palo Alto, CA or Denver, CO.

You Will:

  • Architect and develop AI-centric solutions that align with customer needs and the strategic goals of Velocity Global, collaborating across multiple units to identify opportunities, build rapid prototypes, and enhance them to production quality.
  • Conduct and participate in code reviews, maintaining high standards in coding practices per company guidelines.
  • Enhance performance and scalability of software solutions while keeping up-to-date with technological advancements and industry trends, especially in the Generative AI space.
  • Gather, extract, manipulate, analyze, and model data using analytical and statistical tools while developing machine learning systems, including data selection, model evaluation, and model deployment.
  • Work with team members and leaders to design and build well-managed data solutions and capabilities to promote self-service frameworks for data consumers.

You Have:

  • A degree (preferably an advanced degree) in a technical discipline such as Physics, Engineering, Mathematics, or Computer Science.
  • 7 years of experience working in data engineering or science.
  • Experience building in Python and performing (and optimizing) queries on a relational database.
  • Experience working on AWS and GitLab CI/CD.
  • Experience with Generative AI and RAG-based systems preferred.

The annualized pay range for this role is $185,000—$260,000 USD. The base pay depends upon various factors, including training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and market demands. This role may be eligible for annual performance-based bonuses, flexible time off, health care benefits, retirement savings, and employee incentive plans.
