Your Job
The mission of the Run Research Team is to create and leverage novel, scientific concepts and runner-driven product performance insights to create amazing products to help everyone run their path. As the Senior Run Research Data Scientist, you will be an integral part of the Run Research Team helping to create the future of the run. You will use your advanced knowledge of analytical and statistical models to create and execute research aligned with the brand initiatives. Your responsibilities include:
- Leading data science initiatives from inception to deployment for various human performance and runner behavior data.
- Project management across multiple business objectives, utilizing tools to track development, tasks, deadlines, and budgets.
- Identifying business improvement areas and utilizing data modeling to support strategies related to run performance and experience.
- Collaborating with enterprise data and analytics teams to create self-service pipelines.
- Leading and managing data accessibility and cleaning at scale for Run Research Team members.
- Developing advanced analytical models and methodologies to solve complex problems.
- Representing the Run Research Team in architectural and technical decision-making.
- Translating research findings into actionable insights for senior executives.
- Leading integration of new data sources and collaborating with external partners.
- Teaching and training team members on data science principles.
- Creating specialized development tools and coding for product features.
- Ensuring data quality through cleaning tools and root cause analysis.
- Anticipating and resolving product and operational issues, while leading application testing.
- Identifying and integrating emerging trends in data science and machine learning.
Your Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you should have:
- M.Sc. in Computer Science, Data Science, or related engineering field (Biomechanics emphasis preferred), with 5+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and training.
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, running biomechanics, and injury prevention.
- 7+ years’ experience with data management tools and relational database systems, preferably in lab settings.
- 1+ year experience managing direct reports (desired).
- Expert knowledge of database technologies, visualization techniques, and significant experience with tools like Snowflake, Tableau, or PowerBI.
- Advanced experience with human subject data (3D motion capture, kinematic data) and strong analytical programming skills (Python, SQL, MATLAB, etc.).
- Proven leadership capabilities in a collaborative, cross-functional environment.
- Keen attention to detail, strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Curiosity and creativity paired with the ability to challenge the status quo.
- Willingness to travel 5% of the time.
Compensation
Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $108,935 in the lowest geographic market to $198,739 in the highest. Base pay offered will consider the specific market and will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
