We are looking for a data-driven professional to join the Autonomy Integration Team at Motional, focused on accelerating the progress of our autonomous vehicles through meaningful insights derived from large-scale data processing. This role plays a crucial part in guiding the development and evaluation of our AI, machine learning, and other autonomous software features, using dashboards and insights to inform strategic decisions across all levels of the organization.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Analyze AV performance using data-backed statistical and ML methods for both simulation and on-road data.
  • Develop and establish new statistical analysis methods to interpret AV performance data and build confidence in insights.
  • Establish correlations between on-road and simulation data, identifying trends and anomalies using large data sets.
  • Work collaboratively with developers to drive actionable insights based on data analysis.
  • Promote a self-service model for analysis so that developers comprehend the impact of their changes.
  • Act as an advisor across teams, fostering data-aware decision-making and best practices for data usage.
  • Mentor Software Engineers and Data Scientists, fostering a positive collaboration-centric environment.
  • Utilize learned methods and models for performance evaluation, with 5-10% travel to operational sites to connect with teammates and experience the product directly.

What You Bring:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Robotics, Physics, Mathematics or related field; Master’s degree is a plus.
  • 5+ years of industry experience in solving complex problems with large data sets.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and SQL.
  • Experience applying advanced statistical and/or ML methods, including hypothesis testing and causal analysis.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance and strong communication skills.
  • Proven problem-solving skills with a logical approach to evaluating issues.

Bonus Points:

  • Familiarity with C++.
  • Experience in robotics development and data pipeline/engineering.

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on various compensation factors, including skills, experience, role location, and business needs. The compensation may include additional forms such as bonuses or company equity, and specific details will be shared during the hiring process.

Salary Range: $155,300—$200,000 USD
