The Senior Data Engineer will join the Data Engineering team, collaborating across the TCGplayer Technology organization to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the organization's use of datastore technologies. Members of this team partner with others to define appropriate datastore infrastructure for applications, create efficient and scalable database designs, resolve scaling or performance challenges, and support effective datastore usage in various aspects.

What You Will Accomplish:

  • Guide selection of appropriate datastore technologies for new and replatformed applications, ensuring they meet current and future data needs
  • Consult on database design, optimizing for performance and scalability
  • Write minimal yet effective code, primarily database queries, to facilitate data management
  • Support other engineers with expert advice on interfacing with databases and data storage solutions
  • Support the development of data flow strategies and defining data storage requirements for microservices
  • Troubleshoot and improve existing database designs and queries to enhance system performance
  • Collaborate with other teams to ensure that data architectures are scalable, reliable, and efficient
  • Provide leadership on cross-application datastore projects, including those related to security and migrations
  • Act as a subject matter expert for one or more datastores, creating materials to help other technologists
  • Research emerging capabilities in the data domain to inform long-term strategic planning
  • Define and implement data storage strategies for microservices, ensuring strong data management frameworks

What You Will Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years in designing datastores, data architectures, and data flows for scalable, reliable microservices
  • Mastery of NoSQL datastore technologies, preferably MongoDB; familiarity with Redis and ElasticSearch is beneficial
  • Significant experience with RDBMS technologies, preferably PostgreSQL; AWS experience is preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to adapt messaging for varying audiences
  • Strong ability to influence through collaboration across functional roles and levels within the organization

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment in California, Washington, or New York is expected to be between $135,200 - $205,700. Base pay may vary depending on individual factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package may include a target bonus, restricted stock units, and a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits).

Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the company reserves the right to modify base salary and other compensation programs at any time.
