Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, or another quantitative field, or equivalent experience.
Experience:
- 6+ years of professional experience as a data engineer or equivalent.
- Experience building and optimizing ‘big data’ pipelines, architectures, and data sets.
- Experience with object-oriented programming or scripting languages (e.g., Python, SQL).
- Experience working in an agile/scrum environment.
- Proven technical lead experience with mentoring capabilities.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Track record of translating technical objectives into engineering reality.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Expertise in big data tools such as AWS Services, Athena, QuickSight, Hadoop, Spark, and Kafka.
- Proficient knowledge of data modeling, architecture, security, and governance practices.
- Working knowledge of Python, SQL, and relational databases including query authoring.
- Understanding of infrastructure concepts such as server configuration, routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Familiarity with Data Virtualization tools like PowerBI, Business Objects, and SAP Analytics Cloud.
- Strong analytical skills for structured and unstructured datasets.
- Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills; capable of collaborating with cross-functional project teams and vendors.
- Self-directed and able to support multiple teams, systems, and products.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for expressing complex technical concepts in business terms.
- Attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Project management and organizational skills preferred, with experience in leading projects.
