Senior Data Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer in San Diego, CA or Atlanta, GA, available to work a hybrid schedule with 3 days/week in-office. This full-time position runs from Monday to Friday, 8am-5pm PST. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.; 1099 or C2C candidates will not be considered. The position offers an exempt/salary range of $101,000-$161,000 plus bonus.

National Funding is expanding its Data Engineering Department and offers an exciting opportunity for a Senior Data Engineer. Reporting to the Director of Data Engineering, this role focuses on understanding data flow across source systems, integrating data for operational use, and creating an intuitive data environment to support modeling, analytics, and reporting.

Responsibilities:

• Participate in the ongoing data warehouse implementation, collaborating closely with data and risk teams including analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders. This involves the full DW lifecycle: requirements gathering, data modeling, data mapping, ETL, QA, and maintenance.
• Primary responsibilities include ETL work using dbt, integrating data while applying business rules and transformations, and creating normalized and de-normalized data. Additionally, create pipelines within AWS for various data sources and destinations, and design, develop, and maintain operational applications.
• Support other data engineers, manage CI/CD pipelines through git, handle administrative tasks for project management and platform maintenance, perform data sourcing, and resolve alerts quickly. Documentation and additional AWS tasks to support the data-driven nature of the company are also required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

• 5+ years' experience as a Data Engineer with expertise in data warehousing, ELT, pipelines, and data governance.
• Proficient in dbt, Snowflake, git, and AWS.
• Experience with Salesforce is a plus.

Nice to Have Skills:

• Hands-on experience with Snowflake utilities, SnowSQL, SnowPipe, UDFs, Snowflake administration, and query performance tuning.
• Experience with git integrations with dbt and JIRA.

Physical Demands:

• Working in a temperature-controlled office environment.
• Sitting at a desk for prolonged periods while viewing multiple computer screen monitors.
• Potentially lifting boxes around 5-10 lbs.
