We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to lead the design and development of scalable, high-performance data architectures and models for both batch and streaming data processing. This person will define and execute a strategic Data Engineering Roadmap that maximizes the value of the organization's data assets while ensuring alignment with long-term business goals. This role involves managing ETL/ELT processes, optimizing database systems for performance and scalability, and driving continuous improvement in data engineering workflows. The Senior Data Engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure that data solutions meet business needs and support data-driven decision-making across the organization. Please note: This position is NYC-based and will require in-person work 1-2 days a week at our Manhattan office.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Data Architecture and Modeling:
- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of scalable data architectures and models supporting batch and streaming data processing.
- Define and drive the execution of a strategic Data Engineering Roadmap that unlocks the full potential of the organization's data assets, ensuring alignment with long-term business objectives.
- Own and enhance critical datasets, including streaming and batch data pipelines, along with advanced data discovery, search experiences, and enterprise-wide reporting and visualization tools.
- Database Processing and Management:
- Oversee complex ETL/ELT processes from diverse sources, driving critical analyses and manipulating large datasets.
- Spearhead the administration and optimization of database systems to ensure robust performance and scalability, focusing on both existing and emerging technologies.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Identify inefficiencies and areas for optimization in data engineering processes and workflows.
- Drive the adoption of industry-leading best practices and tools to enhance operational efficiency and scale data engineering capabilities.
- MLOps Implementation:
- Develop and maintain MLOps pipelines that automate deployment, monitoring, and management of machine learning models in production.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver high-quality data solutions.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- BA/BS in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- 4-6 years of experience in data engineering, with a strong track record of manipulating large datasets using Python, AWS, and SQL.
- Proven experience in designing and optimizing data warehouses (Redshift) and expertise in dimensional modeling.
- Extensive experience with ETL/ELT processes, particularly with tools like Airflow and DBT.
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code tools, specifically AWS CDK for managing cloud infrastructure and automating deployments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on optimizing data processes for performance and efficiency.
- Experience managing Google Looker; familiarity with Circle CI / Airflow or similar tools is preferred.

Compensation:
At Talkspace, we believe in pay transparency. Our base salary range for this role is between $146,000 and $160,000, with adjustments based on relevant experience, skills, education, and certifications assessed during the interview process.
