Job Summary: SmithRx leads the transformation of pharmacy benefit management (PBM) with a cutting-edge platform delivering real-time insights, cost efficiencies, and exceptional customer experiences. As we continue to expand, we seek an experienced Principal Data Engineer with expertise in data engineering and AI/ML. In this key role, you will drive innovation and lead the technology strategy for modern data platforms, including data warehousing, tooling, integrations, and AI/ML. You will collaborate with cross-functional leaders to deliver impactful data solutions directly influencing our business outcomes.
What you will do:
- Lead the design and development of robust data architectures supporting scalable, secure, and efficient data pipelines.
- Architect and develop an enterprise data warehouse (EDW) and tooling that integrates with ETL/ELT pipelines and enhances reporting and analytics.
- Develop strategies for the entire AI/ML project lifecycle, ensuring integration with data platforms from problem definition to model deployment.
- Drive innovation by evaluating and implementing new technologies and tools to enhance our data platform's capabilities.
- Ensure best practices in data security, access control, compliance, and performance optimization of database systems.
- Maintain data quality, lineage, and resilience in production environments, ensuring high uptime and quick resolution of issues.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to team members, establishing best practices in data engineering and science.
- Influence and collaborate with cross-functional teams & leadership, including product managers, engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders.
What you will bring to SmithRx:
- BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, with 15+ years of experience in data engineering, data science, or similar roles.
- Strong expertise in data architecture, database design, and optimization, with experience in OLTP, OLAP, NoSQL, and cloud-based data warehouses (e.g., AWS Snowflake, PostgresDB, DynamoDB).
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and SQL, and tools like Spark, PySpark, Airflow, DBT, Snowflake, Cortex, OpenAI, and Terraform.
- Proven experience in architecting and designing AI/ML initiatives, with a deep understanding of AI/ML algorithms and frameworks.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams, influence stakeholders, and manage complex projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, adept at handling evolving requirements and ambiguous challenges.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
