Orbis is seeking a Media Analyst for a mission-critical customer in the Intelligence Community. This multi-year project offers the Consultant the opportunity to explore and lead cutting-edge data research design, data collection, and analysis, all centered around media analysis. The project allows interaction with a wide range of key stakeholders, including senior-level individuals. This role is ideal for an intellectually curious, energetic data consultant who is eager to work autonomously on a project that has a real impact on helping our client meet customer needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop solutions with Python and proficiency in related technical skills, such as:
- Regular expressions
- Natural Language Processing (NLP) and text processing, including tasks like:
- Text preprocessing and cleaning
- Information extraction and Named Entity Recognition (NER)
- Identity matching and text normalization
- Automatic summarization
- NLP evaluation and machine translation
- Document exploitation pipelines
- Multilingual computing and ontology management
- Computational lexicography
- Conduct Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA) using Jupyter or similar notebooks.
- Develop code with Visual Studio Code or similar IDE, including:
- Version control (e.g., git)
- Writing unit test frameworks (e.g., pytest, junit, xunit)
- Incorporate familiarity with Measures of Performance/Effectiveness.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree is required.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in a consulting role within the Intelligence Community (IC).
Desired Skills and Abilities:
- Experience in technologies and methodologies such as:
- PySpark and/or DataBricks
- Python package deployment
- Data labeling using solutions like Doccano, Label Studio, or equivalent
- Developing SQL solutions
- Utilizing SpaCy
- Implementing Skweak/Snorkel
- Using task management software (e.g., JIRA)
- Building discriminative classifiers for text data
- Familiarity with one or more foreign languages
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Routine video conference and/or in-person meetings.
- Ability to attend planned meetings within the Washington Metro Area region.
