Machine Learning Engineer, Early Stage Project (Fixed Term)

About The Team: We're a small, passionate team of experienced ML researchers, software engineers, and product managers committed to making law practice highly efficient and accurate. Our project involves de-risking technology, refining prototypes, conducting partner experiments, and developing product/business plans. About The Role: As an applied ML and data pipelines software engineer, you will manage the development of technologies leveraging large language models. Responsibilities include:

• Prompt optimization and evaluation
• Pipeline implementation and scalability
• Production monitoring and performance
• Fine-tuning SOTA models with domain-specific knowledge
• Collaboration with domain experts to iterate and refine technologies

How You Will Make 10X Impact:

• Innovate state-of-the-art LLM & machine learning techniques for real-world problems
• Lead the design and implementation of ML data platforms and service frameworks, including labeling workflows and sampling strategies
• Design robust, automated, production-level software with scalable components
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, offering direction in areas of high ambiguity

What You Should Have:

• Bachelors/Masters in Computer Science, or equivalent experience
• Experience developing and training ML models for product use-cases
• Proficiency in MLOps tasks (deploying/versioning ML models, monitoring performance)
• Experience with win/loss analysis and efficiency improvements
• Experience building data pipelines (e.g., Beam, Dataflow, Hadoop)
• Coding proficiency in Python, Golang, or equivalent languages
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal)

It’d Be Great If You Had:

• Experience with LLMs for large-scale document processing (annotation, entity extraction)
• Experience in ML modeling (TensorFlow, Pytorch, Jax/Flax)
• Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform and Vertex AI
• Proven track record delivering solutions to complex software problems
• Experience setting technical direction in small engineer groups
• Background in start-up like environments

Compensation: The US base salary range for this full-time position is $160,000 - $210,000, plus bonuses and benefits. Salary is determined by role, level, and location, with factors like skills, experience, and education/training influencing exact pay.
