Machine Learning Engineer

Summary: OXMAN is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer to join our interdisciplinary team of deep thinkers and brilliant makers. The objective is to leverage artificial learning systems as a tool for mediating between human-made and nature-grown environments. The Machine Learning Engineer will design, optimize, and deploy machine learning pipelines using large multimodal datasets related to biology, design, and sustainability. In this role, you will lead the development of deep generative modeling efforts and real-world deep reinforcement learning methods in biological-artificial hybrid systems.

Core responsibilities:

• Apply AI and machine learning techniques to research, develop, implement, and evaluate state-of-the-art algorithms for design, fabrication, and biology.
• Research and develop methods in multi-modal machine learning, deep generative modeling, and deep reinforcement learning to support OXMAN's vision.
• Conduct data gathering and analysis on environmental and biological data relevant to OXMAN's design goals.
• Publish work in top-tier journals and promote scientific knowledge.
• Nurture and augment OXMAN's scientific vision while ensuring high-quality, innovative work.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including biologists, engineers, and designers.
• Communicate ideas and progress clearly through team meetings, presentations, and creative outlets.

Qualifications & Competencies:

• PhD or equivalent in computer science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, applied data science, bioinformatics, mathematics, or a relevant field.
• Minimum 4 years of experience with machine learning.
• Experience in Multi Modal Machine Learning, Deep Generative Modeling, or Deep Reinforcement Learning.
• Portfolio demonstrating innovative integration of AI methods across domains.
• Fluency in programming languages (e.g., Python, C++).
• Expertise in Machine Learning Frameworks (Pytorch, JAX).
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
• Strong independence, self-motivation, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
• An interest in design, biology, architecture, artificial intelligence, and/or sustainability is a plus.
• Commitment to teamwork and maintaining positive relationships with diverse individuals.
• Ethics and integrity in all work, respecting company and community policies.

NYC Salary Range: $83,000-$225,000. Salary is based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other organizational needs. Our compensation package includes variable compensation, year-end bonuses, benefits, immigration assistance, and equity participation.
