What you'll do:
- Collaborate closely with founders and product managers to understand the motivation behind platform capabilities and drive alignment on engineering-driven priorities alongside product priorities.
- Design and lead the implementation of scalable backend architectures for mission-critical enterprise applications, while building and maintaining clean data orchestration pipelines.
- Develop and optimize database schemas and queries for efficient processing of terabytes of data.
- Mentor fellow engineers in best practices, design patterns, and code quality to elevate our engineering rigor and maturity.
- Ensure quality by designing robust testing strategies and implementing reliable test suites.
What you'll need:
- Over 5 years of experience as a data engineer operating at scale, with at least 3+ years focused on data engineering.
- Strong ownership mindset and ability to autonomously lead complex implementations.
- Deep curiosity, customer empathy, and commitment to engineering excellence.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the capacity to mentor junior developers.
- Excellent communication skills for collaboration across teams.
What we need from you:
- Proven experience building and managing data orchestration pipelines for ETL and large-scale data processing using high-level languages like Python and frameworks such as Dagster or Airflow.
- Solid knowledge of data processing frameworks including DuckDB, Polars, Pandas, Kafka, and Spark.
- Experience with data infrastructure, governance, compliance, and enterprise data usage.
- Familiarity with iPaaS solutions like FiveTran, Talend, or Airbyte.
- Deep experience with ORMs, RESTful APIs, and background jobs (e.g., DRF, Celery).
- Advanced proficiency in cloud deployment and hyperscalers (AWS is a plus).
- Strong skills in designing and optimizing SQL databases and complex SQL queries (PostgreSQL preferred).
- Knowledge of asynchronous/event-based programming and message/event queues.
- Solid understanding of API design, documentation, versioning strategies, as well as software testing and CI/CD practices.
Compensation:
- Base salary ranging from $160,000 to $200,000, plus equity.
