UNCOMN is seeking a Junior Data Engineer to:

  • Create and enhance data pipelines, architectures, and datasets to meet business needs.
  • Showcase your skills in data modeling, mining, normalization, privacy, and security.
  • Design unit and integration tests along with data quality frameworks.
  • Participate actively in Agile meetings and provide clear updates on your progress.
  • Share insights with stakeholders, ranging from tech experts to senior leadership.
  • Continuously expand your technical skills to meet client needs and grow professionally.
  • Identify risks and work with stakeholders to develop mitigation strategies.
  • Manage your time effectively to complete tasks accurately and on schedule.
  • Write complex code for data processing tasks, including distributed systems and parallel computing.
  • Craft advanced queries for data processing, such as subqueries and window functions.
  • Develop and implement complex data models and management systems.
  • Incorporate advanced data pipelines for distributed systems and real-time processing.
  • Establish and manage complex data storage systems with sharing and replication.
  • Execute advanced data streaming solutions with fault tolerance and distributed systems.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of related experience in the field.
  • Proven experience with Relational SQL, NoSQL Databases, and object-oriented programming languages, preferably Python.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance, granted by the US Government.
  • Understanding of cloud concepts, preferably related to migrating to a cloud environment.
  • Must be comfortable working onsite at Norfolk Naval Base.

Preferred:

  • Prior experience with the Advana tool suite, Qlik Sense, and/or Databricks.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, or Math (STEAM).
  • Data Engineering-related certification(s).
