Jr. Data Engineer

The Junior Data Engineer will help maintain and optimize data systems that facilitate collaboration between the government and external stakeholders, managing and updating enterprise tools to ensure data standards are maintained and systems operate smoothly. Responsibilities/Duties:

• Data Maintenance: Update and maintain the information within enterprise systems, ensuring data integrity and consistency across the enterprise.
• Requirements Documentation: Assist the relationship management team by identifying and documenting technical data requirements for the enterprise systems.
• Data Standards: Develop guidance around the appropriate use of enterprise systems, ensuring consistent data standards across the organization.
• Customer Service: Provide technical expertise and support to HQ and field users, assisting them with technical issues and ensuring smooth system operations.
• System Auditing: Audit system content for missing or inappropriate metadata, report technical issues, and ensure timely resolution of problems.
• Data Delivery & Documentation: Ensure that data delivery and implementation processes are scheduled, documented, and processed efficiently.

Required Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or technical field (e.g., Statistics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or Engineering) or at least 8 years of experience without a degree.
• Experience: 2-4 years of work experience in a data analytics or data engineering role, including 4 years of technical writing experience to document processes, standards, and user guidance using MS Office.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in a scripting language (e.g., Python, R, Perl, bash) and advanced SQL for data manipulation, along with experience using business intelligence tools such as Looker, Tableau, or Microsoft PowerBI. Familiarity with HTML, CSS, Bootstrap/Reactstrap, and JavaScript frameworks like React is also desired.
• Key Traits: Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical individuals, strong interpersonal and diplomatic skills, and effective professional interaction across all levels. Highly collaborative with a proven ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple projects and competing priorities.
• A self-motivated individual eager to contribute, learn, and exceed customer expectations, with strong organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with data warehousing and cloud environments like AWS or Google Cloud (e.g., BigQuery, Redshift).
• Experience working on large-scale data systems or enterprise-level tools.
