At Voloridge Health, our quantitative systems rely heavily on vast quantities of data. We are seeking a Sr Data Engineer / Architect to design high-performance datasets for advanced analytics and provide mentorship to our data engineering team.
Summary of Job Functions
- Collaborate effectively with stakeholders, project managers, software engineers, data analysts, QA analysts, DBAs, and data engineers.
- Build and maintain data pipelines based on both functional and non-functional requirements, ensuring best practices related to performance, scaling, extensibility, fault tolerance, instrumentation, and maintainability are met.
- Proactively seek out information to overcome obstacles, deliver projects efficiently, and ensure simplicity in data pipeline designs.
- Produce and maintain design and operational documentation, upgrade existing data models and pipelines with new features and techniques.
- Analyze complex data problems, engineer elegant solutions, and stay updated on emerging technologies, making relevant recommendations.
- Work in a Kanban environment, participate in engineering standards and best practices evolution, mentor less experienced data engineers, and participate in on-call rotation.
- Lead investigations to troubleshoot pipeline issues.
Minimum Requirements
- 10+ years' experience with hands-on data engineering and deep knowledge of data architecture fundamentals.
- Extensive experience in building ETL/ELT pipelines, database technologies, and creating/maintaining a variety of database objects.
- Deep understanding of multiple data sources and transport mechanisms, performance tuning, execution plan analysis, and index optimization.
- Strong initiative, collaboration, accountability, impartiality, and communication skills, coupled with strong analytical skills and a real passion for solving data problems.
- Experience in managing master data, writing C#, PowerShell, Python, and utilizing Git source control.
- Experience working in a Kanban SDLC with understanding of traditional Kanban SDLC workflows and deploying changes through segregated Development, QA, UAT, and Production stages.
- Experience owning mission-critical processes, with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related disciplines.
- Ability to work onsite in our Jupiter, FL office.
Preferred Skills and Previous Experience
- Python programming using libraries such as Pandas, Numpy, csv, Traceback, JSON, PyODBC, Math.
- Experience with AWS, source code branching, pull requests, code reviews, clinical and/or consumer healthcare data.
- Familiarity with tools such as Red Gate, Grafana, OpsGenie, and JAMS.
- MS/PhD in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related disciplines.
