Elasticsearch Data Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

• Data Analysis & Problem Solving: Analyze quantitative and qualitative data to resolve stakeholder challenges and enhance business efficiency, designing and implementing repeatable processes.
• ETL Pipeline Development: Perform extraction, transformation, and load (ETL) tasks; develop and integrate data sets from various environments to support performance and configuration use cases.
• Data Modeling & Management: Develop, test, and maintain physical and logical data models, ensuring data quality, accuracy, and security by managing relevant metadata. Identify and resolve Elasticsearch issues, including slow queries.
• Governance & SecDevOps Adherence: Follow GMS Data Governance and SecDevOps policies in the development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of data engineering pipelines.
• Cross-Team Collaboration: Work within a matrixed organization to coordinate with project leadership while upholding standard practices; combine software and data engineering to enhance enterprise data governance.
• System Architecture & Data Transformation: Utilize knowledge of system architecture and centralized logging (ELK) for data transformation efforts.
• Data Analytics & Visualization: Secure, maintain, optimize, and document analytics and visualization solutions, including design and construction responsibilities.
• Agile Practices: Follow Agile scrum methodologies in daily operations and expand data platforms using Elastic and Confluent solutions.
• Customer Visualization Support: Assist in customer-driven visualization requirements and collaborate on data integration and Kibana dashboard development.

Education & Experience Requirements:

• B.S. in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Data Science, or Data Analytics with 8+ years of relevant experience. Additional experience may substitute for a degree.
• Data Management & Collaboration: Proficiency with Data Management platforms and strong communication skills for effective collaboration with virtual teams of data engineers and DevOps engineers.
• Software Development Lifecycle: Experience with production-quality code development and lifecycle adherence.
• Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain interim Secret DoD Security clearance before employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with data automation, text mining, BI tools (e.g., Kibana, Splunk), and big data technologies (e.g., Elasticsearch, Apache Spark).
• Familiarity with CI/CD methods, containerization, and Kubernetes.
• Certified Elastic Engineer with experience developing logstash and ingest pipelines, and in Confluent ksql and kstreams for ETL purposes.
• Solid background with Agile methodologies and associated tools.

• Active Secret Security Clearance.
