**Position Overview:** - **Location:** Remote - **Job Type:** Full-time/Exempt - **Key Responsibilities:** - Support DHS S&T’s System of Systems Operational Analytics (SoSOA) team - Apply data science skills to build and develop models, including verification and validation (V&V) studies of existing models - Develop software to integrate multiple models and enhance their performance
**Supervisory Responsibilities:** - This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but may coach and mentor other personnel throughout the department.
**Required Skills/Abilities:** - Must be a U.S. Citizen - Demonstrated experience in: - Maintaining and improving existing codebases - Developing, testing, and implementing software systems including complex predictive models - Analyzing, debugging, and testing software / complex predictive models - Developing, coding, and validating machine learning algorithms - Building and maintaining statistical modeling tools - Creating data visualizations and analytic outputs using BI tools (e.g., PowerBI, Tableau, Qlik) - Superior verbal and written communication skills - Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite - Excellent interpersonal, counseling, negotiation, and presentation skills - Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
**Education and Experience:** - 2+ years of broad software development and data science experience - Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Software Development, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred) - Knowledge of computer programming languages and Jupyter Notebooks - Experience in capturing metrics and producing various employment reports
**Physical Requirements:** - Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
