We are on a mission to empower every person, team, and company to tailor their software to address any problem and embrace any challenge. At Notion, we believe that while computers are powerful tools, many people lack the ability to build or modify the software they use daily. Since 2016, we've been working on changing this with focus, design, and craft, serving customers like Pixar, Mitsubishi, Figma, Plaid, Match Group, and thousands more. As we grow rapidly, we are excited to welcome new teammates who are the best in their fields and share our passion for creating a diverse and innovative environment.

Notion is an in-person company that currently requires employees to come to the office for two Anchor Days (Mondays & Thursdays) and encourages spending a majority of the week in-office, including a third day.

As a member of the product data science team, you will play a critical role in shaping how product, engineering, and data science collaborate. Your hands-on work will vary daily, from analyzing successful accounts to building core activity data sets and conducting experiments to assess new feature launches.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilize statistical inference, data mining, and data presentation techniques to understand user interactions with Notion.
  • Identify ambiguous areas, define problems, and pinpoint opportunities for the team to tackle influential projects.
  • Design experiments and analyses to evaluate new feature success.
  • Collaborate closely with product, engineering, and marketing teams throughout the development process, driving data science and analytics efforts.
  • Establish and maintain dashboards for monitoring progress and making key decisions aligned with north star and operational metrics.
  • Communicate findings across the company to influence the product roadmap and verify changes that drive impact.

Skills:

  • Experience as a data scientist partnering with product and engineering teams, able to identify impactful data opportunities and communicate effectively.
  • Proficiency in SQL and at least one scripting language (preferably Python or R).
  • Knowledge in statistical inference and experimentation for actionable recommendations.
  • Experience in building predictive models and evaluating their performance.
  • Ability to transform raw data to create the necessary data sets when required.
  • Efficiency-driven mindset, balancing speed and accuracy in decision-making.

We embrace talented individuals from diverse backgrounds and encourage applicants who may not meet every bullet point to apply if they share our company values and have a passion for making software toolmaking accessible.

Notion is an equal opportunity employer. We do not discriminate based on race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex (including pregnancy, childbirth, or related conditions), marital status, ancestry, disability, genetic information, veteran status, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, or other legally protected characteristics. We are committed to providing reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with disabilities and disabled veterans throughout the application process.

Notion offers highly competitive cash compensation, equity, and benefits. Compensation for this role will depend on various factors, such as location, role complexity, and candidate experience and expertise. For roles based in San Francisco or New York City, the estimated base salary range is $136,000 - $230,000 per year.
