As a Data Scientist-II, you will join a highly innovative Advanced Analytics team to uncover new insights from data to drive efficiency and informed decision-making. Data Scientists focus on building models to explain, solve, and uncover new information about specific business problems/phenomena, while enhancing decision-making through data-derived insights to create healthier futures for patients. Ideal candidates will be passionate about data, Data Science & AI and positively impacting patient lives while exploring and researching emerging Analytics technologies and techniques. Successful individuals will formulate new hypotheses and seek new understanding from data to build solutions and capabilities with far-reaching, real-world impact. This position can be performed remotely with limited travel.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Utilize advanced statistical, AI, and computational methodologies to deliver insights and strategic opportunities for improving healthcare quality, patient experience, and costs.
- Establish scalable, efficient, automated processes for large-scale data analyses and model development, validation, and implementation.
- Monitor and analyze complex systems to diagnose and continuously improve key performance indicators.
- Translate business/research questions into analytical questions and produce actionable solutions.
- Assist in writing statistical methodology and results for technical reports and publications.
- Manipulate, combine, and refine large datasets and implement data quality improvements.
- Develop algorithms for data analysis and write code for implementation.
- Explore and visualize data to understand distributions that could affect model performance.
- Collaborate with various teams, including Cognitive Computing, Data Engineering, and Client Analytics, to align solutions with client needs.
- Present analytics findings for knowledge sharing and recommend model evaluation metrics.
Experience & Educational Requirements:
- Five (5) or more years of data program experience or demonstrated expertise in data management and architecture.
- Four (4) or more years in a data science capacity or demonstrated expertise in data science.
- Master’s or PhD in computer science, math, statistics, data science, machine learning, AI, or a related discipline.
Minimum Skills, Knowledge & Ability Requirements:
- Demonstrated ability to perform assigned tasks with minimal supervision and strong data modeling skills.
- Proficiency in SQL and programming in Python; familiarity with additional languages is a plus.
- Experience with OpenAI or Azure OpenAI API and LangChain/Llama Index is advantageous.
- Experience working with diverse data formats and technologies (e.g., relational, unstructured).
- Strong mathematical skills, with advanced understanding of statistics.
- Capable of researching new technologies and adapting to new approaches.
- Proficiency with data visualization tools/best practices is a plus.
Leadership Skills:
- Mentor and orient teammates; assess project needs and define business questions.
- Establish relationships to understand data and its collection process.
- Takes lead on projects and adapts to changing priorities.
- Creative problem-solver who finds innovative ways to overcome roadblocks.
