We are looking for a Data Scientist I to support the United States Special Operations Command Preservation of the Force and Family (USSOCOM POTFF) program at MacDill AFB, FL. This role focuses on identifying and implementing innovative solutions that enhance the well-being of Special Operations Forces (SOF) warriors and their families. Candidates must be able to obtain a TOP SECRET clearance and be U.S. citizens without the need for sponsorship, both now and in the future.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support all POTFF domains, providing consultation to units and staff to identify data capturing opportunities related to POTFF programs.
  • Collect, clean, manipulate, and analyze data using statistical techniques, including:
    • Data mining, exploratory analysis, predictive analysis, and statistical analysis.
    • Correlating data into graphical, written, visual, and verbal narrative products to aid in informed decisions.
  • Proficiently utilize software and technologies to collect and report data in the Human Performance Data Management System (HPDMS) (Smartabase), including:
    • Building databases and spreadsheets for POTFF-related data.
    • Troubleshooting issues within the HPDMS.
    • Maintaining dashboards to automate data analysis and interpret trends.
  • Assist with survey design, data analysis, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with the Government’s POTFF Biostatistician and other POTFF staff to fulfill assigned tasks.
  • Prepare reports and presentations conveying data trends and analyses.
  • Provide technical guidance on database implementation and refinement.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the POTFF Manager or Coordinator.

Required Qualifications:

  • Fluency in English to communicate effectively with personnel.
  • Strong verbal, written, interpersonal communication, and presentation skills; detail-oriented.
  • Initiative, interpersonal skills, and social sensitivity towards diverse contacts.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Access.
  • Experience with statistical software applications such as SPSS, SAS, and R.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification or documented experience with Human Performance.
  • Experience in Special Operations, athletics, sports, or military settings.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in quantitative science, social science, or a related discipline.
