We are looking for a Data Scientist I to support the United States Special Operations Command Preservation of the Force and Family (USSOCOM POTFF) program at MacDill AFB, FL. This onsite position requires a Secret clearance and U.S. Citizenship without the need for sponsorship. The ideal candidate will contribute innovative solutions aimed at improving the well-being of Special Operations Forces (SOF) warriors and their families.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Consult with POTFF program staff to:
    • Collect, enter, clean, and conduct basic data manipulation and analyses.
    • Perform data mining, exploratory analysis, predictive analysis, and statistical analysis.
    • Utilize Human Performance Data Management System (HPDMS) (Smartabase) for graphical representations and narratives.
  • Utilize computers and software to report data in HPDMS, maintaining databases and troubleshooting issues.
  • Automate data analysis through dashboard maintenance, identifying trends and programmatic data.
  • Assist in survey design and analysis, providing consultation to identify data capture opportunities.
  • Collaborate with POTFF staff to complete assigned tasks and prepare reports and presentations that convey data trends.

Required Qualifications:

  • Fluency in English (reading, writing, speaking) for effective communication.
  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal communication, and presentation skills, with high attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal relationship skills and sensitivity when interacting with diverse contacts.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access) and prior experience with statistical software applications (SPSS, SAS, R).
  • Self-starter with the ability to take initiative.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification or experience in Human Performance.
  • Experience in Special Operations, athletics/sports, or military settings.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in quantitative science, social science, or a related discipline.
