Black Book’s Data Science team works to solve our customer’s most pressing challenges by enabling them to harness the power of data for insightful decisions. This position represents an exciting opportunity to be part of a high-growth team, driving innovation and assisting in developing next-generation data solutions in the automotive industry. In this hands-on position, the Data Scientist will collaborate closely with the automotive analytics team, applying Data Science knowledge to design and develop enterprise analytic solutions focused on specific auto industry questions for Black Book customers. The Data Scientist will establish best practices in utilizing advanced analytics, necessitating the ability to understand and document business processes while influencing process improvement. Additionally, the role involves incorporating emerging technologies to explore new analytic possibilities. The individual filling this role will be expected to hit the ground running on delivering advanced analytic solutions, including designing and developing proof-of-concept solutions to support presales activities and contributing to standardized analytic offerings across multiple companies.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the automotive analytics team to ensure a comprehensive understanding of automotive data.
  • Define analytic strategies and technical/data requirements to meet business demands.
  • Conduct sophisticated analyses, build models, and translate data science results into clear business-focused deliverables for decision makers.
  • Lead project plans and collaborate with Application Developers to deploy models into operational systems.
  • Integrate advanced analytics into end-to-end business intelligence solutions and operational business processes.

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of professional experience with a Master of Science or equivalent degree in applied statistics, mathematics, data science, or a related area of study.
  • 3+ years of experience using Python for machine learning and large-scale data analysis; 3+ years using machine learning methodologies, including regression, decision trees, time series analysis, and NLP.
  • Expertise in SQL and relational databases, alongside experience with Hadoop/Spark, Map/Reduce, Hive, or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience working with IT Development teams for implementing analytic applications/solutions throughout all phases of the software development cycle beyond model development.
  • Experience in the automotive industries.
