Purpose of position: Data sits at the heart of the company. This role is to ensure that Awin is able to leverage the data it has access to across the group and build out reporting to ensure we are able to make better commercial decisions and provide best-in-class campaign management to support client facing departments. As a Data Scientist, your responsibility is to leverage advanced statistical methods and machine learning algorithms to analyze complex datasets and extract actionable insights that drive business decisions. You will develop, test, and deploy predictive models, ensuring scalability and optimal performance, while collaborating closely with Data Engineers to maintain data quality and consistency. Within the role, you will be creating and optimizing features, building reusable data pipelines, and clearly documenting processes and methodologies. Additionally, you will also refine existing models based on new data and advancements, mentor junior team members, and promote a collaborative, data-driven culture.
Key Tasks & Accountabilities:
- Analyze and interpret complex datasets using statistical methods and machine learning algorithms to extract actionable insights.
- Develop, test, and deploy predictive and classification models, optimizing them for performance and scalability.
- Collaborate with Data Engineers to clean, preprocess, and structure data, ensuring quality and consistency throughout the workflow.
- Create and optimize features for models, building reusable pipelines with engineers and leveraging domain knowledge.
- Document processes and methodologies clearly, and present results and insights in an actionable way to stakeholders.
- Continuously refine models based on new data and advancements, while mentoring junior team members and fostering collaboration.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, or Data Engineering, with a focus on Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, or Machine Learning is preferred.
- 4+ years of experience working as a Data Scientist, AI/ML Engineer, or Data Engineer, with proficiency in Python, R, or similar programming languages.
- Strong knowledge of AI/ML frameworks and libraries like Databricks MLOps, Microsoft Azure ML Studio, or Amazon SageMaker, MLlib, MLOps, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, Matplotlib, and Spark.
- Excellent understanding of AWS or Azure data engineering pipelines, particularly AWS Glue, AWS Lambda, Azure Data Factory, Databricks, and Python (NumPy, Pandas).
- Solid knowledge of database and dimensional modeling technologies, with familiarity in Scrum and Agile practices.
- Proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Skills & Core Competences:
- Strong ability to analyze large datasets, identify patterns, and generate insights using statistical methods.
- Experience in developing, testing, and deploying machine learning models like classification and predictive models, with expertise in algorithms such as decision trees and regression.
- Proficient in data cleaning, preprocessing, and feature engineering to ensure quality and consistency in models.
- Skilled in Python, R, SQL, and familiar with libraries such as NumPy, Pandas, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, and PySpark.
- Collaborative approach to working with Data Engineers and teams to integrate and optimize machine learning models for performance and scalability.
- Capable of documenting methodologies and processes clearly, and continuously adapting models based on the latest advancements.
- Experience mentoring junior data scientists and fostering knowledge sharing across the team.
- Strong customer focus and service attitude, proactive approach to tasks & challenges.
