Data Scientist

Provation is looking for an experienced hands-on data scientist to continue building the culture of innovation at Provation. The right candidate has active hands-on data science experience who can also articulate data insights and technical concepts to executive audiences. The Data Scientist role requires the ability to develop innovative solutions, perform risk analysis, and be comfortable working in a rapid, fail-fast environment, as well as provide a vision for future data science products and capabilities.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Drive execution and play a vital role in building a culture of innovation at Provation, assisting with growing organization-wide data science capabilities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders and customers to understand their business needs, formulating and completing end-to-end reviews that include data gathering, scaled deliverables, recommendations, and presentations.
• Contribute to diverse technical projects utilizing natural language processing, statistical analysis, machine learning, and other analytical modeling forms.
• Effectively manage stakeholder expectations and coordinate project timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
• Translate data science model impacts, insights, and methodologies into accessible language for non-technical team members.
• Assist in building and maintaining a data governance framework, fostering appreciation for data-driven decision-making across the organization.
• Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in computer science, information theory, language technologies, or related field is required; Master’s or PhD preferred.
• 5+ years of related experience with a proven track record of applying data science techniques to real-world business problems.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Expertise in programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL, with familiarity in data manipulation and visualization libraries (e.g., pandas, matplotlib, seaborn).
• Strong knowledge of machine learning algorithms, deep learning techniques, and statistical modeling.
• Experience with big data technologies/platforms (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) and cloud computing services (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP).
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of critical and creative thinking.
• Effective communication skills to present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, along with proven leadership experience to mentor a data science team.
• Demonstrated experience in stakeholder management, project coordination, and communication within a data science or related technical environment.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail; ability to thrive in a dynamic, collaborative team environment.

Additional Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Certifications:

• Lead end-to-end data science projects from problem definition and data collection to model development and deployment.
• Design and develop machine learning models and algorithms to analyze large, complex datasets and extract meaningful insights.
• Explore and implement advanced statistical techniques to uncover trends, patterns, and correlations in data.
• Develop predictive models and forecasting algorithms to drive decision-making and business growth.
• Evaluate model performance and make recommendations for improvements and optimizations.
• Stay current with developments in data science, machine learning, and AI technologies, identifying opportunities for innovation.
• Provide technical guidance and support as needed.
