What is the position? Cognosante is seeking a Data Scientist with a proven track record of leveraging data to drive actionable insights and optimize business outcomes. The Data Scientist will apply expertise in data analysis, machine learning, and statistical modeling to design and implement solutions that tackle complex challenges and uncover opportunities for improvement across diverse IT projects. This role is 100% remote.

What will I get to do?

  • Work collaboratively with clients or management to understand data requirements and needs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define data requirements and ensure data-driven decision-making, while developing and refining data collection strategies to ensure the availability of high-quality data for analysis.
  • Employ advanced statistical and machine learning techniques to analyze large datasets, identify patterns, and develop predictive models.
  • Design and implement evaluation frameworks to assess effectiveness of programs utilizing qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Transform complex data into clear visualizations that communicate insights to stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance business processes through data-driven analysis, proposing solutions to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Maintain documentation for data engineering processes and best practices, and develop processes and standards for data strategy activities.

What qualifications do I need?

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of IT experience.
  • A Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related discipline) or 8 years of additional relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in Python, R, or other relevant programming languages for data analysis and machine learning.
  • Strong understanding and hands-on experience with machine learning algorithms and techniques.
  • Proficiency in data visualization tools to communicate complex information effectively.
  • Strong analytical mindset capable of approaching complex problems pragmatically.
  • Experience with AWS cloud offerings (S3, Redshift, etc.) and strong knowledge of SQL and database management systems (PostgreSQL, MySQL, or NoSQL).
  • Must be able to achieve a moderate (Tier 2) VA position of trust.

What additional characteristics will help me thrive?

  • Familiarity with healthcare and supply chain inventory data.
  • Experience with client-specific solution components such as Databricks, Talend, AEMS/MERS, Maximo, PoU FoS, RTLS, and SEPG/EER is a plus.
  • Experience working in the Federal Government, especially VA, is a plus.
  • Active clearance for Public Trust Position.

Compensation: $96,760.98 - $154,817.56. The pay range for this job is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, job responsibilities, and market alignment. The displayed estimate represents the salary range for this position and is a component of Cognosante’s total compensation package. Cognosante will not provide sponsorship for employment-based immigration benefits for this position.
