We are looking for a Data Scientist to join The Aerospace Corporation, a trusted partner to the nation’s space programs. This position is for the Data Driven Algorithms Research section within our Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Department (DSAID), where we conduct research on applying cutting-edge technologies in Data Science and AI to customer applications.

Work Model:
This full-time position is based in Colorado Springs, CO, or Chantilly, VA, offering a hybrid work model that includes three regular onsite workdays with remote flexibility as business needs allow.

What You’ll Be Doing:
Data Scientists at Aerospace apply their expertise across various missions, focusing on:

  • Evaluating technologies for scalable and resilient mission-critical applications.
  • Coordinating the development and execution of experiments and proof-of-concept software prototypes.
  • Collaborating with small, innovative teams to deliver features and products.
  • Presenting results to team members and stakeholders to support organizational goals.
  • Maintaining an environment of learning and progress within the team.
  • Engaging in ongoing education to stay current with government missions and advancements in data science and AI.

Minimum Requirements for Data Scientist - Senior Member of Technical Staff:
To be successful, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Electrical or Computer Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in a data scientist, machine learning engineer, or AI/ML researcher role.
  • Software development skills, including familiarity with machine learning and deep learning libraries in Python.
  • Experience with software engineering concepts (DevOps, algorithms, data structures).
  • Working knowledge of Unix/Linux operating systems.
  • Ability to cooperate as a team member and manage the required security clearance (U.S. citizenship necessary).

Additional Requirements for Data Scientist - Engineering Specialist:
This role requires:

  • Advanced degree in the relevant fields mentioned above.
  • 8+ years of experience in the same roles outlined earlier.
