We are seeking a Data Scientist to support our growing business focused on the US Army by developing tools to manipulate and visualize data collected from ground, air, and space-based spectral and radiometric sensors. In this role, you will collaborate with a diverse team including Government Engineers, Spectral Scientists, Analysts, Data Scientists, Developers, and other subject matter experts to identify and fulfill customer needs based on existing and new tools.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Image and Data Scientists to develop data manipulation and visualization tools.
  • Work with Program Manager, Customer, and Project Technical Leads to design and implement project architecture and deployment plans.
  • Modernize existing code to align with contemporary DevOps environments.
  • Exercise good software development practices, including testing, version control, and documentation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in mathematics, physical science, computer science, or engineering.
  • Expertise in Python.
  • Experience in managing and developing DevOps solutions for version control and deployment for distributed teams.
  • Proficiency in using PyQt for developing desktop interfaces for complex applications.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work independently or collaboratively and interact directly with customers.
  • U.S. Citizen able to obtain a security clearance.

Desired:

  • Experience working with remote sensing and geospatial data.
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $115,000 - $140,000 per year

Schedule: 8 hour shift

Ability to Commute/Relocate: Charlottesville, VA 22911: Reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Experience:

  • Matlab: 1 year (preferred)
