Primary Purpose: Participate in the design, development, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of data products across the full cycle of data services to support the analytics needs of data/business analysts or data scientists.

Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Support the design and build of data products, including:
    • Data pipelines, data lakes, and data/analytics applications
    • Data ingestion and transformation processes (ETL, ELT), streaming, virtualization, and replication
    • Data lakes/warehouses with raw and curated levels; join data from multiple datasets into logical views; publish datasets to central data mesh/marketplace
    • Data visualizations to enable actionable operational improvements
  • Create and review technical and user-focused documentation for data solutions, covering:
    • Data models, dictionaries/lineage
    • Process and data flows, architecture diagrams
  • Work with project/client teams to follow established data management practices, including:
    • Data catalog, metadata management, data quality management
  • Provide end-to-end maintenance and support of all products and features owned by their product team, performing triage and responding to incidents as needed.
  • Grow development skills to build/code within an agile mindset, participating in agile ceremonies and communicating progress.
  • Begin establishing trusted relationships with business partners, IT peer teams, and vendor partners while improving knowledge of business subject areas/data domains.
  • Participate in reviews and demos of technical specifications and program code, receiving feedback to learn from other engineers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).

Qualifications:

  • Hybrid Schedule: Typically allows the employee to work onsite three days per week and remotely on remaining workdays. Must reside in Southern California or be willing to relocate upon hire.
  • Required Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, or another quantitative field, or equivalent experience and/or training.
    • 2 years of professional experience in software or data product design, development, installation, and modification in a business environment, or completion of the IT Rotation program.
    • Hands-on experience with database, data integration/ETL, and/or data visualization tools.
    • Working knowledge of SQL and experience with relational databases, including query authoring.
    • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
    • Availability for work outside of normal business hours for system maintenance and operational emergencies.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • 1 year of experience with Software Delivery Frameworks, including Agile Scrum, Kanban, and/or SDLC.
    • Proven ability to execute projects in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
    • Strong analytical skills working with structured and unstructured datasets.
    • Self-directed approach to supporting the data needs of multiple teams, systems, and products.
    • Familiarity with data modeling, architecture, security, and governance practices.
