The Data Engineer will play a key role in enabling the Enterprise Information Security (EIS) department to make data-driven decisions by managing local data marts, developing extract, transform, and load (ETL) scripts, connecting to various data sources, and designing business intelligence dashboards. You will succeed in this role as an independent thinker who takes initiative to solve problems and is enthusiastic about accuracy. This is a highly visible role, and many managers will depend on you to visualize data effectively to represent cyber risk and performance indicators.
Responsibilities:
- Engineer, install, operate, and maintain data connections from various data sources for aggregation and persistent storage in data marts.
- Collaborate with adjacent teams to:
- Discover technical requirements.
- Determine project scope and timeline.
- Implement data solutions to enable operational excellence.
- Prepare and maintain necessary documentation, including data flow diagrams, business process workflows, and internal procedures.
- Design and continuously improve Power BI dashboards for efficiency and clarity, enabling Cyber Leaders to better protect sensitive data and enhance customer trust through business intelligence.
- Connect to multiple Cyber tools to correlate data and improve visibility into Cyber threats, exposure, and controls.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Extensive knowledge and experience with Python, SQL, and REST API.
- Advanced knowledge of business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI or Business Objects).
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work with both management and staff.
- Proven ability to work independently, handle multiple concurrent projects, and prioritize effectively.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for technical and non-technical staff.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, or related field with 4+ years of experience in a Data Analyst, Data Engineer, or Business Intelligence role supporting information security or cybersecurity functions. A combination of education and experience may also meet requirements.
Location:
This position offers a hybrid work-from-home schedule, requiring a minimum of three days per week in the office at the new Zions Technology Center in Midvale, UT. The Zions Technology Center is a 400,000-square-foot technology campus located on the former Sharon Steel Mill superfund site. Features include:
