Buckeye Partners is currently seeking a Data Scientist II with quantitative and data analytics experience in the Oil & Gas Industry to join our team!

Role Summary: This role will support and drive growth within the Advanced Analytics team, focusing on using quantitative models to support business decisions. This is an exciting opportunity to shape how Advanced Analytics supports Buckeye's safety, operations, and financial goals across multiple lines of business.

Responsibilities & Essential Functions Include:

  • Partner with Subject Matter Experts across various lines of business to:
    • Identify opportunities for applying quantitative methods and analytical frameworks to enhance business performance and process efficiencies.
    • Utilize foundational data science methodologies to improve metrics related to safety, predictive failure detection, asset performance, and financial forecasting.
  • Build, test, document, and deploy machine learning (ML), deep learning (DP), and artificial intelligence (AI) models to extract value from data assets.
  • Maintain models and documentation to ensure ongoing effectiveness.
  • Prepare visualizations and example output to communicate model behavior and performance to non-analytical stakeholders.
  • Organize and normalize datasets for analysis from various formats such as databases, text documents, and images, including preparation for exploration, visualization, analysis, modeling, and prediction.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in analytical data modeling within equipment reliability, finance, or econometrics.
  • Proficient in various databases and data query tools (e.g., OSISoft, ESRI, MSSQL, Oracle, MySQL).
  • Masterโ€™s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Econometrics, Mathematics, Engineering, Finance, Physics, or related discipline preferred; a Bachelorโ€™s degree is required.
  • Experience with DevOps, Python, Azure ML, Databricks, or other machine learning/statistical software.
  • Strong ability to communicate modeling results effectively to diverse audiences.
  • 5+ years of experience in the midstream oil & gas industry preferred.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally.
  • Microsoft Certifications are preferred.

  • Occasional movement within the office to access files and equipment.
  • Continuous operation of a computer and other office productivity equipment.
