Responsibilities
The Semarchy Team within the Information Technology department at Oaktree ensures that firm-wide data needs are met holistically in a scalable and efficient manner. We design institutional solutions to meet the data and reporting needs of internal & external consumers. Based in Los Angeles, the Assistant Vice President will be responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and monitoring data engineering solutions to support the Semarchy/MDM platform, enabling effective data management and governance across the organization.

Responsibilities Include:
- Act as a key contributor to Oaktree’s Semarchy Platform team, Semarchy (the vendor), and implementation partners, executing the initial implementation and product roadmap.
- Architect and design end-to-end, scalable data engineering solutions aligned with business requirements, data governance policies, and industry best practices.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, business users, technology, and cross-functional teams to gather requirements, understand data needs, and define data engineering strategies and objectives.
- Analyze existing data management processes and data quality issues to identify areas for improvement and propose solutions.
- Develop data models, integration strategies, and mapping specifications for seamless data flow and integration across systems.
- Provide technical leadership, overseeing coding standards, code reviews, and quality assurance processes.
- Stay updated with emerging data engineering technologies, industry trends, and best practices for continuous improvement and innovation.

Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer focused on solution design and development.
- Proficiency in programming languages (Python, PySpark, T-SQL) and database technologies (PostgreSQL, SQL Server).
- Expertise in cloud-based solutions utilizing AWS products (API Gateway, EventBridge, Glue, EC2, EKS, Lambda, CloudWatch) and Terraform.
- In-depth understanding of MDM concepts, data modeling, data integration, data quality, and data governance principles.
- Solid knowledge of enterprise integration patterns, APIs, and web services (REST, JSON).
- Familiarity with Project Management tools, operating policies, procedures, and practices.
- Experience with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.

Preferred:
- Experience with Semarchy xDM tools or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with UI frameworks (React or Vue JS).
- Proficient in the Atlassian suite of products (Jira, Confluence).

Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Information Technology preferred. An ideal candidate may also possess an MBA/CFA and/or formal education in Finance focusing on Investment Management or Financial Engineering.

Base Salary Range
$135,000 - $160,000. In addition to a competitive base salary, you will be eligible for discretionary bonus incentives, a comprehensive benefits package, and flexible work arrangements. The base salary offered will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, industry knowledge, and expertise.
