As a Data Engineer at Dealer Tire, you will be part of a highly skilled team of innovative data professionals responsible for designing and implementing our enterprise data lake, data model, and the ETL/ELT pipelines that feed our business and analytical systems. You will collaborate with internal and external customers and our affiliate companies, empowering them to solve business problems and gain powerful insights using high-performance datasets and enterprise analytics systems like Alteryx, R, Python, and Power BI.

As a Data Engineer, your essential job functions will include:

  • Collaborate with business and IT teams to implement a comprehensive and easily expandable Enterprise Data Model based on business needs.
  • Act as a thought leader on future data usage (Data Futurist) and a catalyst for converting data into a knowledge base.
  • Contribute to the design and enhancement of our enterprise data model, analytics systems, data marts, and data warehouse/data lake.
  • Build robust, scalable, and high-performing ETL/ELT solutions involving structured & unstructured data, leveraging appropriate design patterns (e.g., near-real-time/change data capture, batch processing, streaming data).
  • Collaborate with internal & external customers, our affiliates, and IT teams to define and implement a roadmap for the enterprise data model.
  • Participate in design reviews to maintain high quality standards and accountability.
  • Evangelize and democratize our data assets, empowering users with self-service tools and training.
  • Engage with multiple concurrent projects and articulate ideas clearly through verbal & written communication.
  • Monitor system and process performance, making corrections and enhancements as part of continual improvement.
  • Provide on-call/after-hours support for processes and systems owned by the team on a rotating basis.

Position Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience in a Data Engineer or comparable role.
  • Strong skills in querying databases (t-SQL, PL-SQL), data modeling (including data warehouse design), data engineering, and reverse engineering.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced, high growth environment with multiple concurrent workstreams and priorities.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems, or a quantitative field is a plus.
  • Familiarity with technologies like SAP Data Integrator, Microsoft SQL Server, SSIS, Python, Power Shell, R, Amazon AWS, Google Big Query, Snowflake, and Alteryx is a plus.
  • Experience in root cause analysis of datasets and processes for improvement is advantageous.
  • General expertise in enterprise IT architecture (databases, ERP, middleware, networking) and high availability/disaster recovery solutions is a plus.

Physical Job Requirements: Continuous data input and viewing on a computer screen, sitting for long periods, and occasional travel as necessary.

Base Pay Range: $90,500.00 - $125,000.00
