We are looking for an Associate Data Engineer to join our team at Greenway Health, where we celebrate diversity and strive for a culture of belonging. This role is essential in supporting the development and maintenance of data production pipelines, ensuring their smooth operation and assisting with data extraction and transformation for analytics. You will work in Cloud, non-Cloud, and hybrid environments to help build the future of healthcare technology.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Support the development and maintenance of data sets to ensure availability for analysis, including:
- Analyzing and organizing raw data sets to meet functional and non-functional requirements.
- Improving data quality and efficiency through regular monitoring and testing.
- Creating scalable, production-ready pipelines for data movement and transformation.
- Assist in implementing and enhancing support tools for monitoring data pipeline issues.
- Help interpret trends and patterns in data to provide insights.
- Contribute to building algorithms and prototypes under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Combine raw information from different sources to create comprehensive data sets.
- Support the development of analytical tools and programs for team use.
- Identify opportunities for data acquisition and contribute to data collection efforts.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Up to two years of ETL development experience, focusing on data engineering.
- Data engineering certification is a plus.
- Preferred familiarity with Cloud-based deployment and data processing technologies (e.g., AWS Lambda, S3, EMR clusters).
- Experience or coursework in Healthcare Information Technology (HIT) is a plus.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
- Basic technical understanding of data models, data mining, and software architecture.
- Familiarity with relational databases and queries, focusing on optimization (Postgres and MS SQL).
- Experience with programming languages, including Python, SQL, and Java or C#; experience with Spark and Kafka is a plus.
- Understanding of data schemas for structured and unstructured data.
- Exposure to Big Data technologies (e.g., HDFS, Hive, Spark) is preferred.
- Awareness of AWS services (e.g., SNS, SQS) and pipeline orchestration tools (e.g., AWS Step Function, Apache Airflow) is a plus.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent attention to detail, and organizational skills.
- Customer service skills with professionalism, eagerness to learn, and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
- This position is primarily sedentary, requiring consistent seating for the majority of the workday.
- The role involves regular typing on a keyboard and prolonged observation of a computer screen.
- Good listening and speaking ability with customers and other associates is essential.
